The Bubble dress was the brainchild of Christian Lacroix and made it's first incarnation in 1986. The close fitting bodice and huge colourful short skirt emphasises the legs, cleavage and bank balance of the wearer. The point of the Bubble dress is to be wildly impractical in a sexy way. InStyle editor Hal Rubenstein once referred to it as 'a ball gown stuffed into a minidress'
